LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Several thousands of dollars in stolen property was recovered Tuesday afternoon after the rightful owner found his stolen four-wheelers and trailer posted for sale on Facebook.

"Someone who got it here, put it on Facebook and said it was for sale,” said Comanche County Sheriff Kenny Stradley. “The people it belonged to found out it was on Facebook and contacted us."

Sheriff Stradley says the person selling the property was innocent and had no idea the items had been stolen. He even had a proof of sale. When the thief, Troy Collett, contacted him again to try and sell more property, he called deputies and arranged a staged buy where the suspect was arrested.

Deputies say his arrest has helped solve three burglaries so far in Creek County and Cleveland County.

Many of the stolen goods are still unaccounted for, but the two four-wheelers and trailer were returned to the original owner Wednesday.

"Yes, the president said that 'he knew what he signed up for, but it hurts anyway.' And it made me cry 'cause I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said he couldn't remember my husband's name," Sgt. La David Johnson's widow said in an interview.
