LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -The Comanche County Health Department hosted an event aimed at teaching parents how to properly install car seats.
"If that child's not in that seat correctly, if the seat's not installed correctly, you could hurt, seriously injure or even kill that child," said Jennie Mullins, a car seat event visitor.
The event was put on by Safe Kids and is held at the Comanche County Health Department every three months. Attending families were able to purchase a brand new car seat for $10 and have a certified technician walk them through how to install the seat properly.
Certified child passenger safety technicians say four out of every five car seats are installed incorrectly, which is why Safe Kids officials were happy to educate parents on proper installation.
