LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –The Lawton Police Department is proud to introduce their three newest additions.

Two Belgian Malinoises and a Dutch shepherd have joined the Lawton Police Department as the nest K9 units. Their handlers—Sgt. Christopher Adamson, Officer Brittany Schulte and Officer Cameron Patterson—will go through an extensive four-week training with their canine partners.

Two of the dogs will be used for detection and apprehension, and the other will be used solely for detection.

Ory, a Belgian Malinois, will be partnered with Sgt. Adamson.

Be, a Dutch shepherd, will be partnered with Officer Brittany Schulte.

Dino, a Belgian Malinois, will be partnered with Officer Patterson.

The two K9s the Lawton Police Department had were retired in 2015.

    Several students graduated from Junior Citizens Police Academy today. Each year they host two of these academies to teach local kids exactly what officers do. The academy is designed to help the department build a better relationship with the community.

    A luncheon was held today for those who go above and beyond to donate to the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma. The 2017 Pacesetters Luncheon recognizes local businesses and organization for their commitment to bettering the community by getting a jump start on donations for United Way's campaign. A total of 19 businesses has already pledged donations this year which is an increase from year's past. 

    A luncheon was held today for those who go above and beyond to donate to the United Way of Southwest Oklahoma.
