LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Mountain Metro AMBUCS was off to the races Saturday in the annual AmTryke races at Central Mall in Lawton.
Community leaders, employees from businesses around Lawton and members of the 7NEWS crew raced against each other on the AmTrykes.
Mountain Metro AMBUCS has this event every year to get their name out there so they can recruit new members and raise money for more AmTrykes. AMBUCS gives away these special bikes to people with disabilities that would prevent them from using a tradition bike all for free.
Matthew Black was representing the U.S. Army in the competition Saturday, and won first place in the races.
"It's a great feeling," said Black. "Not only does AMBUCS help out children, it helps out Wounded Warriors. Any of my battle buddies that need anything, it helps them get back on the horse and keep going. So it's a great feeling."
This is the 11th year they have had the races at Central Mall, and as part of that tradition, they gave away AmTrykes before the races.
