DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) -The United Way of Stephens County held a ceremony to celebrate exceeding their fundraising goal of $350,000.

The campaign kicked off October 2015 and wrapped up last week. President of the United Way board of directors Doug Volinski says the organization was concerned about making the goal early on due to the current economic hardships throughout the state. He says exceeding the campaign goal is an example of what Stephens County stands for.

"That's why we exist. To try and help the people in the community and the agencies. So, we're ecstatic," Volinski said.

Volinski says more than 60 area businesses contributed to the campaign. The donations raised during the campaign will be split among the 14 agencies that benefit from the United Way.
