LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Lawton's Ward 5 councilman is pushing for the public's help in repairing a long-crumbling wall at Ron Stephens Stadium.

"This is going to be a volunteer effort. What we're looking is for local citizens, local businesses to step up. It’s part of our heritage and we need to keep it alive," said Councilman Dwight Tanner.

In 2006, one of the walls from the 80-year-old stadium fell, and has only been getting in worse shape over the years. So, Councilman Tanner, Lawton Public Schools and the Lawton Historical Society are hoping to raise money for the $250,000 repair job.

If you would like to help repair the stadium that's played host to countless local athletes, you can donate through the Lawton Enhancement Trust Authority and earmark the funds for Ron Stephens Stadium.
