LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Local young chefs competed for the prize as Lawton Public Schools hosted the 10th annual "Future Chefs Challenge."

"The enthusiasm and the spirit of our children here, I can’t wait to see what happens as they continue to grow and develop in their education."

The Future Chefs Challenge is a national competition involving hundreds of school districts aimed at highlighting young chefs with creative and healthy meal ideas. Forty LPS elementary students submitted healthy breakfast recipes for the challenge and the 12 best were selected for the district-wide finals event.

Finalists prepared their unique dishes, which were judged on a number of criteria, including originality, taste and use of healthy ingredients.
