LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –A man wanted in Kentucky for three counts of child abuse was arrested at a Lawton hotel.

Police went to Motel 6 Tuesday afternoon to serve a warrant for Ronald Saunders. Saunders was wanted in Kentucky on three counts of criminal abuse of a child under 12, one of the victims was only 15 months old. Saunders previously served time for the death of a child. Police say Saunders, who is an ex-Marine, was considered dangerous and might have been armed.

The officers knocked on the hotel door and when Saunders answered, they ordered him to the ground at gunpoint and handcuffed him.

The woman in the room was checked, but she did not have any warrants and was not needed in Kentucky’s investigation. She told police they got married in February, and that she was aware of his past instances involving child abuse and the death of a child.

Saunders is being held at the Lawton City Jail. Kentucky will extradite him with a $2 million bond.
