Semi-truck fire shuts down northbound I-44 at Red River

BURKBURNETT, TX (KSWO) –Northbound traffic on I-44 at the Red River is down to one lane.

The Texas Department of Safety says a semi-truck veered off the road and hit a guard rail, causing the fuel tank to ignite. Fire and HAZMAT crews were called in to help, and diesel was leaking near the Red River.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is assisting with traffic control while the Texas Department of Safety works the crash itself.

The driver is alright, but the semi-truck is a total loss.
