Driver hits fence, home during chase

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –A driver crashed through a fence and hit home after leading police on a chase.

A Lawton Police officer was stopped at West Gore Boulevard and 38th Street just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday when David Encalade ran the red light. The officer turned on his emergency lights and the chase was on.

Encalade went through every red light and weaved between the eastbound lanes of Gore Boulevard until he came to 17th Street and turned south. Encalade kept speeding and tried to brake check the officer four times before crashing through the fence of a home on the 1500 block of Southwest 'I' Avenue.

The officer and backup jumped out of their vehicles to arrest Encalade, but Encalade circled the yard and aimed his Oldsmobile Aurora at them. The officers got out of the way when he crashed into the home.

Police used their Tasers to subdue Encalade and pulled him out of the car.

Encalade was arrested and booked into the Lawton City Jail for failure to obey a traffic signal, reckless driving, eluding police and assault with a deadly weapon.
