LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A driver who fell asleep at the wheel caused chaos, after running off a busy Lawton roadway. Police say around 10 Saturday morning the driver of a black Dodge pickup ran off the road in front of splash pools on East Gore Boulevard and Dr. Louis K. Jones Avenue.

Officers say the truck hit a utility pole snapping it in half. Then ran into a gas meter damaging it and then crashed into a railroad guard rail before finally coming to a stop.

Crews from Center Point Energy were out there most of the day working to repair not only the gas meter but the gas supply line in the ground as well. PSO was also called out to replace the wooden power pole that snapped.

Officers say the driver of the pick up was not injured in the crash.
