LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - The city of Lawton entered the final phase of the 2nd Street re-development project Monday. Crews were out between Euclid Avenue and Ferris Avenue, ripping up 2nd Street.

Engineering Director George Hennessee says crews will add stamped concrete to look like brick down the middle of 2nd Street. They will also add the stamped concrete to the intersection of Ferris Avenue and 2nd Street. They will be adding street lights, benches and trees in an effort to beautify it. They will also expand Ferris Avenue, adding right and left turn lanes at the intersection.

The city gave contractors 300 days to complete, but they're anticipating construction should be done by Christmas.
