LPS buildings outfitted with new AEDs

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Lawton Public Schools is taking more steps to ensure the health of its students, even in emergency situations.

The school district is teaming up with the Cardiac Science Corporation to bring automated external defibrillators, AEDs, to all the buildings throughout the district.

A CSC representative gave service training as they delivered the defibrillators, but the AEDs are user friendly, and walk users through entire rescue operations with voice prompts and text screens.

Studies show almost 7,000 children fall victim to heart complications each year.

    A pedestrian was struck on Northwest Cache Road in Lawton today. The accident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. According to police officers, the pedestrian was struck by a truck backing out of a parking lot. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital for his knee and back injuries.
