ANADARKO, OK (KSWO) –One person died and two children are in critical condition after a wreck near Anadarko Thursday evening.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 24-year-old man driving a 2000 Chevy pickup crossed the center line on State Highway 9 just west of Anadarko and hit a Jeep head-on. The pickup and the Jeep rolled and the driver of the Jeep, 49-year-old A-the-mah Mary Lee Naunai of Carnegie, was thrown from the Jeep and died at the scene. She was wearing her seat belt at the time.

Two boys, a 6- and 7-year-old, were in the Jeep as well. They were both flown to OU Children’s Hospital and were admitted in critical condition. Child restraints were equipped in the vehicle and both children were using them.

The driver of the pickup refused medical treatment for an arm injury, he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.

OHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal wreck.

The stretch of State Highway 9 near Oak Ridge Camp was shut down for just over three hours.
