LAWTON, Okla (KSWO) - The Cameron men's golf team captured another Lone Star Conference championship this week, besting Texas A&M-Commerce and Midwestern State in match play to earn their third straight LSC crown.
"Our strength of our entire line up was very good and it showed. Certainly our top players at the top positions did as well. It was just a good overall showing of our depth," Coach Jerry Hrnciar said.
"You know one time can be a little luck, twice, maybe. But three times, I think it verifies how hard the boys work and where we stand in the conference. Hopefully we can do something like that in Super Regionals."
All five Aggies finished in the top ten individually, including LSC Player of the Year Daniel Nielsen who took home the title after beating teammate Cullen Stahl in a playoff.
"It was an honor winning as an individual," said Nielsen. "I have been playing really good lately. I just came back from an injury. Winning this conference championship has given me a lot of confidence going in to Super Regionals."
Cameron will make its 22nd postseason appearance next month. The Aggies will compete in the South Central/West Super Regional May 2-4 in Las Cruces, NM.
