LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - The winners were announced at the 7th annual City of Lawton Children's Art Fair Saturday. 7NEWS caught up with one of the first place winners, who drew a famous ship that famously sank.

"I was reading about the Titanic at school and I just wanted to draw it,” said Haidyn Heath. “Then I wanted to enter it into the art show."

Heath won first place in the 2nd and 3rd grade contest for his Titanic drawing. His grandfather saw Heath liked to draw and has entered him into the contest this year as well as last year.

Event organizer Julia Greffin says the way Heath reacted to having his art on display is why they have this art fair.

"It's important for them to be able to expressive themselves,” said Greffin. “Some of them don't get out enough, and they just want to do something different. Express, paint or dance or just paint a car."

Along with the art the kids got to dance, play in bounce houses, get their face painted, and just have fun out at the Elmer Thomas Park Festival Pad.
