FORT SILL, OK (KSWO) - Lt. Dan Band kept the crowd singing out at the Fort Sill Polo Field on Saturday night. They mostly play covers that the crowd can clap and sing along with. The actor Gary Sinise named the band after his memorable character in the movie Forrest Gump, Lt. Dan Taylor.

We spoke with Sinise before his performance Saturday, and he says he because he met Major General John Rossi, Fort Sill Commanding General, a few years ago at Fort Hood. So getting to perform at Fort Sill this year was just a phone call away.

"I've been on bases all around the world and all around the country and this is the first time I've been to Fort Sill,” said Sinise. “I've wanted to come here for a long time. There is so much training here, so many people go through here. You know a lot going on a lot of families, and a lot of veterans in the community."

Sinise goes all around the world playing for the military and their families, which is part of his Gary Sinise Foundation that has different programs to support soldiers.
