Cameron draws rematch with Midwestern State in LSC Tournament

LAWTON, Okla (KSWO) - The Cameron softball team will head to Canyon, Texas this week for the Lone Star Conference tournament. The Aggies have their eyes on another NCAA tournament berth. Right now they're right on the bubble, ranked 7th in the South Central Region. The top 8 will receive a bid. In order to reach their goal, CU will need to have a good showing in Canyon.

Up first for Cameron will be Midwestern State. The Aggies took three out of four games from the Mustangs a few weeks ago. But that doesn't really tell the whole story. Three of the four games were decided by two runs or less. So in a one-and-done scenario, the Aggies know anything can happen.

"We're preparing for it the same way that we did the first time. We're not really paying attention to how many games we won with them in the regular season,” said CU senior Carly Allerheiligen. “They've played just as many games as we have since then so they could have improved on certain things that we found as weaknesses before and same goes for us. It's fun to play someone that's so close to us so it will be a fun rival."

"They've got two or three game changers in their line-up and we're going to have to pitch to them carefully and make some of their other kids beat us,” said Cameron coach Rodney DeLong. “They've got the Lone Star home run record holder on their team. They hit her leadoff and try to get her as many at-bats as possible and we've got to be careful with a girl like her."

That first round game is set for 11:00 a.m. in Canyon.
