LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –More information surrounding a drive-by shooting in Lawton Thursday morning has been released.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on the 1600 block of Northwest 13th Street. Police say a woman reported seeing a gold Chevy Cavalier with multiple people inside drive by her house without the headlights on. Other witnesses say they saw a man hanging out of the window with a shotgun.

The woman ran inside the house just before hearing three gun shots that struck the west side of the residence and shattered the windows. Investigators found three 12- gauge shotgun shells in front of the home. Other people in the vicinity tried to make it inside but were forced to hide behind a parked car instead.

One of the witnesses told police that one of the men involved in the drive-by had made threats against him and his family before the shooting.

The car involved in the crime was pulled over a short time later with four people inside. Two boxes of ammo were found in the back seat floor board and a 12-gauge shotgun was in the trunk.

Javeaion Singleton was arrested for shooting into an occupied dwelling and a city warrant. Patrick Stewart was arrested for use of a vehicle to discharge a firearm. Jessie Gonzales was arrested for resisting a police officer.

“The Lawton Police Department would like to recognize the quick response and actions of Lieutenant Ryan Studebaker, along with his back up officers Lieutenant Mark Mason and Captain Ronnie Smith Jr. in stopping this suspect vehicle and apprehending the individual suspects believed to be involved in this violent act,” Detective Nancy Lombardo said.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
