Storm ravages home in Ninnekah

NINNEKAH, OK (KSWO) - Amongst the storm damage Friday, one resident in the town of Ninnekah lost his home.

Scattered debris, knocked over electric poles, and even a mattress impaled by an electric pole littered the city.

Kris Allen, a resident of Ninnekah, says he was monitoring the weather on television when he decided to pack his family up and head to a shelter where they waited out the storm before emerging.

"After the immediate threat passed, the tornado, I jumped in my truck and drove down here and saw my house sitting in the middle of the road," Ninnekah said.

Allen said his family lost just about everything. He said immediately following the storm, friends, family and strangers came to help him salvage what they could. He says for that reason he plans to rebuild and remain in Ninnekah. The Red Cross has reached out to support his family.
