CORUM, OK (KSWO) - A fundraiser going on tomorrow not only promises a good meal, but a way for you to help out one of our local volunteer fire departments.
Corum firefighters are hosting their annual barbecue, brisket and pulled pork fundraiser.
Besides plenty of food, the event will also include a live band, games, door prizes, a public firefighter challenge.
Fire Chief Kevin Lindesmith says the money raised will be used for storm sirens to make sure the community is well prepared, especially with the number of storms ramping up.
"It's just like a business, these fire departments are," Lindesmith said. "It takes a lot of money to keep the equipment up and get guys trained, so we spend a lot of time training and you know the community has just been phenomenal about helping us out and we want to give something back."
The department hopes to raise at least $7,000.
All the meat was donated from Delbert's Grocery Store, so there is no charge for the meal… They'll just take donations.
The event is Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Corum Fire Department.
