ELGIN, OK (KSWO) - Friends and family came together to raise money for the family who lost their home when an EF 1 tornado touched down on Friday.

"I owe so much gratitude to so many people that I don't even know," said Dianna Klenk, who lost her home. "It's just overwhelming..."

Klenk was in the middle of the storm Friday afternoon with her two grandchildren. Their trailer just outside of Elgin was demolished.

Angela Houser didn't know Klenk before she stepped in to help the family clean up after the storm.

She came up with the idea to have a fundraiser car wash Saturday to raise money to get the family back on their feet.

"I was helping her at her house yesterday, and another lady came up to me and said I heard what you are doing because she saw it on Facebook," said Houser. "Dianna just busted out in tears. She's all like oh my god, and she gave me hugs. She was just ecstatic."

They were out in Elgin from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. washing cars. Houser says when they got there to set up,  there was a line forming of people wanting to donate. She believes they raised more than $600 so far.

The car wash is over but the clean-up is not. Houser says if you still want to donate to find her on Facebook or contact her at 580-704-6233.
