Arrest made in recent identity theft crimes

COMANCHE COUNTY, OK (KSWO) - The Comanche County Sheriff's Department has confirmed they have arrested one man in connection to the crimes that were reported a week ago. The arrest was made on Saturday, and officials say he will be charged this week.

While working with Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Elgin Police, they have located many ATMs with skimmers attached to steal your debit card information. Also on the machines, a gray square in the corner with a small camera attached to capture your pin number.

Comanche County Sheriff Ken Stradley says they believe a group of people have been responsible for the identity thefts.

"But this is just part of the whole thing because this is throughout Oklahoma," said Sheriff Stradley. "This group has come in and started plaguing our ATMs, and taking good people's money."

The ATMs with the skimmers were found around Medicine Park, Elgin and one in Lawton. Sheriff Stradley says if you see anything suspicious with your ATM, don't use it, and alert the bank or the sheriff's office.

He says they are offering a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to another arrest in the case.
