LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A Lawton woman was charged Tuesday with abandoning her 3-month-old child.

According to court affidavits, Katie Blakely pleaded guilty to abandoning her 3-month-old child at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in October 2015.

The child was admitted to the hospital because it was malnourished and underweight. The affidavit states Blakely was told by staff to stay with her child, but she left the hospital and didn't come back. Officers attempted to make contact her at home, but she would not answer her door.

Blakely was charged with child neglect and desertion of a child under 10, both felonies. She will be back in court in June for sentencing.
