COMANCHE COUNTY, OK (KSWO)- It took 10 firefighters with four trucks about an hour to put out a fire that started out as a controlled burn Thursday, southeast of Lawton.
Hulen volunteer firefighters also managed to keep the fire from damaging a water line that feeds from Lake Waurika to Lawton. The fire started after the property owners attempted to burn a small portion of a wheat field that had been damaged in last week's hailstorm.
"He was very thankful that we responded as fast as what we did and got it took care of and under control for him before he lost any property that he did not want to lose," said Hulen Fire Chief Chris Carter.
Carter says no structures were damaged in the fire. The fire consumed about 50 acres before it was put out.
