Man arrested for meth during shooting investigation

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –Police arrested a man after stopping him because he was in a truck similar to one used in a shooting just moments earlier.

Police stopped George Nish on the 2600 block of Southwest 'H' Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. When the lieutenant met with Nish, he noticed that Nish's eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred. A second officer noticed an open bottle of vodka in the truck's cab.

The lieutenant asked for Nish's driver's license, but was given his work ID instead. A captain with the Lawton Police Department arrived and determined Nish was "too intoxicated to drive" and arrested him for DUI. While searching him, police found a small stun gun, a glass pipe with residue and a small baggie with 0.8 grams of meth in it out of a pocket. As the baggie was pulled out of his pocket, Nish said, "Yeah, I like to get high."

Nish was taken to the Lawton City Jail for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, DUI and transporting and open container of liquor.
