DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) -Duncan Police say a young driver could have been seriously injured if it wasn't for her seat belt.

Master Officer Nathan Carrio with the Duncan Police Department says the driver turned south onto the Duncan Bypass from Highway 7 when her truck had a mechanical failure, which caused her to roll Friday afternoon. He says the truck was totaled, but her injuries were minor.

“She told me she was wearing her seat belt and it was evident to me, or the injuries would have been a lot worse, so I do recommend for everybody to wear their seat belt. There are that small population out there that are against wearing their seat belt. I do recommend more often than not you need to wear your seat belt," Master Officer Carrio said.

The driver was taken to a Duncan hospital by her parents to get checked out as a precaution.
