DUNCAN, OK (KSWO) -Students at Horace Mann Elementary showed off their business skills by selling lemonade to their fellow classmates and other students.

For the past two weeks, the 4th grader students have participated in an entrepreneur workshop aimed at teaching them how to make a budget, a business plan and branding options. The idea came from a retired Duncan educator and a current high school teacher who thought it would be a good way for the high school students to interact with the younger kids and teach them what they've learned.

Angela Smith, a 4th grade teacher, and a student, Addison Siess, say it has been beneficial.

"Just to help the kids understand how important it is to give back to our community, understand the process of starting a business if that's what they choose to do," Smith said.

"Now I know how to work with a team and run a business," Siess said.

The students hope to raise at least $50 to pay the school back for buying their supplies. Administrators say the rest of the money will be split among three local charities: Beautiful Day, the Humane Society and the Horace Mann Library.
