ALTUS AFB, OK (KSWO) -Altus Air Force base hosted a shooting competition Tuesday as one of the many events for National Police Week.

Altus Police officers and others from around the state took turns shooting targets and running drills before enjoying some barbeque. This special week is designed to honor officers for their work, dedication and sacrifice they make for our communities.

"Maybe take a second and just about the people that lost their lives doing this job. It could be dangerous at times. It’s a celebration of what we do and the oath we swear to uphold when we take this position as police officers," said Det. Jonathan Almanza.

Almanza says they also take this time to have a good time and do some networking. The rest of the week’s events include a golf tournament, driving course and burger grill out.
