LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Goodyear's Lawton tire plant is expanding its work space to make more large-size products for their customers.

They’re adding a little over 15,000 square feet, costing the company about $27.5 million. They're adding a new trench to the plant to help expand their capacity and capability to work in. Jimmy Cagle, manager of communications at Goodyear, says the employees feel like this is a reward for all of their hard work.

"It's a great testimony to our people that we're getting the money from and they're putting the investment here. We will be able to expand our capability to support our customer base and our people are very proud of it,” said Cagle.

Over the past few years, Cagle says they have spent more than $100 million on modernization projects like this one and more are in the works for the future. The project began in March and is expected to be finished in September.
