Council approves city budget

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - At city hall Tuesday night, the Lawton city council approved the budget for the upcoming fiscal year that starts July 1st.

But, they reversed a proposal to eliminate three part-time jobs in the police department.  The council had asked city staff to review ways to find money in the budget to keep those officers, so those positions will be retained.  The budget includes a 3.5 percent hike in the utility bill, along with the removal of 23 full-time positions.
