LAWTON, OK (KSWO) –A correctional officer was arrested after a co-worker felt suspected contraband when he was patted down before coming to work.

Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, a GEO correctional officer was patting down Mau Leiataua, a fellow correctional officer, when he felt what he believed was contraband. The correctional officer took Leiataua to the men’s bathroom and had him drop his pants, that’s when they saw a “misshapen bulge” in Leiataua’s underwear.

When asked what it was, Leiataua admitted it was “contraband.” The package wrapped in black electrical tape was removed and Leiataua was taken to a secure room until Lawton Police arrived.

The package Leiataua tried to bring into the prison contained 3.3 ounces of tobacco.

Leiataua was arrested and booked into the Lawton City Jail for bringing contraband into a penal institution.
