ELGIN, OK (KSWO) -More than 4,000 flags were placed to honor those laid to rest at the Fort Sill National Cemetery.

Veterans, active duty military, their family members, Boy Scouts and members of the community all came out to make sure service members that died and are buried at the cemetery are remembered for the battle or battles they fought.

Within an hour, every tombstone had a flag in front of it honoring the service member buried there.

On Monday, a Memorial Day service will be held at the cemetery at 10 a.m.
