OSU running backs performing inspired in practice

STILLWATER, OK (KSWO) - Oklahoma State's running game was not the most prolific part of the Cowboys' offense in 2015. In the offseason, Barry J. Sanders transferred in from Stanford, providing some hope for improvement in 2016. Simply his presence with the team has allowed the rest of the running backs to bring out their best early in practices.

“Chris Carson's work ethic and approach and Rennie's. Really not Jeff Carr because Jeff Carr was new last year and kind of as a freshman. So I expected it from him. But their work ethic has been really good. And whether it's been Junior or just them wanting to improve an area on our team that we need to improve to help the overall picture it's been good,” says OSU Head Coach Mike Gundy.

“Chris as well as Barry, as well as Rennie and Jeff Carr and our two freshman running backs have all been effective so far. Chris has been a hard worker. One of the strongest guys on the team. Tremendous motivation inside him,” states OSU Quarterback Mason Rudolph. “He's done a great job with some of the criticism between him and the offensive line and the running backs and the offensive line. He's just taken it and ran with it. Barry has done a great job of coming in and learning how we do things. And improving day-by-day.”

OSU only ran for 1,649 yards and 25 scores last season.
