LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A local organization received a $500 donation today.

Lawton Rangers invited local recruiters to participate in a competition on Military Appreciation night at the rodeo this year. The competition involved dressing a goat. The winner won $500 to donate to their charity of choice.

This year’s winner was the U.S National Guard and their charity of choice was the Lawton chapter of Ambucs.

Lawton Rangers board member Tom Phillips is happy that the donations go back into the community.

“Both organizations are actively involved in their community. There is just not enough community projects to go on so when an organization such as these can give back, it’s a great thing,” said Phillips.

Ambucs will be using the donated money to aid in building ramps and bicycles for disabled children.
