Apache Stampede PRCA Rodeo final day

APACHE, OK (KSWO) - Over in Apache, they had their final day of the Apache Stampede PRCA Rodeo. And the rain didn't ruin this rodeo!

The Apache Regional Foundation got this rodeo to arena in Apache. The foundation raises money for underprivileged families around Apache.

80-year-old rodeo clown Lecile Harris says this stampede rodeo is wilder than other ones he has been to, and that makes it fun to watch and be in.

Harris has been in the rodeo for the past three years, and says every year he comes back the event gets even larger.

"I have seen it grow every year,” said Lecile. “They had it on a 5-year plan. This is their fifth year and it is more than expected. So it's just growing. It's going to be a really different event for people, and it's going to start drawing people from a long way."

This is one of the last PRCA Rodeos where money won counts for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
Harris says for some, it's the riders last chance to get them to the finals.

    A man is dead after he ended up in a Lawton homeowner's yard. Police say yesterday around four o'clock in the afternoon, officers went to check out an incident in the 4600 block of Northeast Bell Avenue. They spoke to the homeowner who said the suspect had jumped into his backyard. The homeowner says that he detained the suspect and, while waiting for the officers to arrive, the suspect collapsed and was later pronounced dead.
