ELGIN, OK (KSWO) - Elgin pulled off the upset of Number 6 Cache in overtime 8-7 after both teams failed to score in regulation.
In the overtime, Cache drew first blood thanks to a touchdown run by Maurice Dowell. So trailing 7-0, Elgin responds with Noah Taiese. He runs in a touchdown, just barely crossing the goal line. The Owls then decide to go for all the marbles calling for two-point conversion. As a result, Braeden Shackleford throws to Greydon Buhlig in the corner of the endzone to win the game. That's when pandemonium ensues as the Elgin faithful stormed the field in celebration as the Owls hand Cache their first loss of 2016.
The Elgin defense kept a dangerous Cache team at bay thanks to a couple interceptions.
Elgin now sits at 2-3 and will travel to Newcastle next week. Cache is 4-1 and hosts Clinton next Friday.
