Man dies after falling into Lake Elmer Thomas

LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - Friends and family are remembering an Indiahoma man who died after falling into Lake Elmer Thomas in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge, That’s approximately 1/10 of a mile south of state highway 49 at the Lake Elmer Thomas Boat Ramp. It’s just west of Lake Letra in Comanche County. It happened around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 71-year old Jay Woodward of Indiahoma fell off a boat into the water while fishing due to an unknown medical condition.

A passenger, identified as Randy Woodward, jumped in after him, and was able to swim with the victim to shore and attempted C-P-R.

Jay Woodward's body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Oklahoma City to determine his cause of death.
