COMANCHE COUNTY, OK (KSWO) – A Navy plane made an emergency landing in the western part of Comanche County Saturday, and the pilot and co-pilot walked away without injury.

This was the scene out near Base Line Road and Indiahoma Road. Officials say it happened around noon as the plane was flying back from Open Hangar Day in Frederick. Officials say the plane had some fuel issues, and the pilot made the decision to land in the fields where Leon Fischer's mother lives.

Fischer's cousin was working out in the wheat fields, when a friend called him to say someone landed on his family's land.

"He came over to see if it had crashed, and he came into our yard, and she was there,” said Fischer. “So he and her drove up, and the pilot and the co-pilot were walking back toward out house at that time. So she gave them a ride back to the house, and they made the calls to let everyone know they were safe."

Officials say that what the pilot did was the right thing to do in that situation, and Fischer said it's just another day in Southwest Oklahoma!

The plane will stay in the field until it is deemed safe to take off again.
