DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) - A Duncan woman who tried to hire someone to kill her mother and stepfather - and asked her mother to mail the letter - has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Court records show Raquel Marie Sanchez was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty in September to two counts of attempted solicitation of first-degree murder after a former felony conviction.

She was sentenced to 25 years in prison with 15 years suspended on each count and the sentences will run concurrently.

Court documents say Sanchez sent the letter to a Stephens County inmate who Sanchez had previously shared a jail cell with and offered her $500 to kill her parents.

The parents were later shown the envelope sent to the inmate and the mother said she had mailed the letter.
