LAWTON, Okla (KSWO) - A dominant 2nd half propelled No. 1 MacArthur to 9-0 on Friday night. The Highlanders outscored No. 5 Altus 35-0 after halftime, en route to a 54-20 victory.
The 1st half was a much different story as the lead bounced back and forth between the teams six different times. After a Mac field goal, Altus took a 7-3 lead thanks to a 3-yard Noah Villarreal touchdown run. The Highlanders answered with a 1-yard plunge from Anthony Love. A two-point conversion gave MacArthur an 11-7 advantage after one quarter.
The Altus defense found the end zone in the 2nd quarter. Tito Jones intercepted J.R. Winningham and ran it back for a touchdown, putting the Bulldogs back on top 13-11. With Love back in control of the offense, MacArthur answered with a methodical drive, capped off by a 13-yard Ronnie Kimble touchdown on a pop pass. Altus would respond one more time as Shaquan French broke free for a long td on a 4th down, giving the Bulldogs a 20-19 halftime lead.
MacArthur will take on Ardmore in Week 10, with the winner capturing the 5A-1 Championship. Altus will finish the regular season at Western Heights.
