LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - The fourth ever Open Streets in Lawton got families out and active on Saturday. The event is a nationwide movement to promote good health in communities, and in Lawton it also got people out in the downtown area.
Between Northwest 2nd Street and Northwest 5th Street on C Avenue, there was kids crafts, games, zumba and basketball. The Lawton Farmers Market also relocated for this special event.
The Santiagos is just one of the families who took advantage of all the activities planned there.
"Yes he was riding the bicycle with the police officers, and he enjoyed that," said Jennifer Santiago. "We're doing the ring toss, the facing painting, and painting pumpkins. Oh he loves to be active so this also gets him involved in the community."
And this year was Fall and Halloween themed. So there was plenty of costumes and pumpkin painting for everyone.
The Open Streets events are semi-annual, so keep your eye out for the next one!
