LAWTON, OK (KSWO) - A pedestrian has passed away after being struck by a vehicle early this morning in Lawton. Lawton police now confirm Bobby Watts, an elderly man, was hit by a vehicle near 52nd and Gore, next to Eisenhower High School.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. The victim was apparently using a walker. He was taken to a hospital under emergency status. Our photographer on the scene says traffic in the eastbound lane of Gore is closed from 52nd to Sooner Square as police redirect traffic. No students were involved.

Police say they are not sure if the man was walking on the crosswalk. The driver who hit the man is cooperating with police but they are not sure if she will be charged or ticketed. The driver told police she didn't see the man because it was dark. Police are still interviewing witnesses at this time.
