Reality show about drug addiction comes to Lawton

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)- 'It can happen to you too'. That's the message behind a new reality show about drug addiction, and it's filming in Lawton.

The show is called 'Fallen Stars'.
It follows the lives of celebrities who have died from drug overdose -- such as Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston -- and it looks to help people who are struggling.
The film crew even brought along an interventionist to talk to some local youth.
We spoke with the show's director Friday.
She says she wants those struggling with addiction in smaller towns to know that help is out there:

“I think everybody knows about issues in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami but people around the country and around the world because the show will go international don't know is that there are small communities that also need help”, says director Tara Pirnia. “Until we profile those communities and show the people that work incredibly hard every day to make sure our communities are safe that the kids have a real fighting chance they will not have the ability to have the funding or the budget to make a difference”.

Pirnia says they are working to film their pilot episode which follows the life and death of 'Prince'.
No word on when they will start filming or when the show will air.
