Local Election Wrap-up

LAWTON, Ok – While voters across the nation went to the polls to vote for their choice of President as well as a number of other national, state and local races, people across Southwestern Oklahoma had their own list of races they had to decide.

Incumbents swept the U.S. Senate and House races in Oklahoma.

State Question 777 failed to pass in one of the hottest contested state questions races of the year. Oklahoma will also not be seeing a tax increase to raise funding for education.

The City of Lawton re-elected Councilman Jay Burk and elected Caleb Davis to replace Councilwoman Rosemary Bellino. Meanwhile, Comanche County also re-elected Commissioner Johnny Owens for the Central District. John Michael Montgomery was re-elected as State Representative for District 62.
