VALLEY VIEW, OK (KSWO) -The Valley View Volunteer Fire Department hosted their 4th annual chili fundraiser Saturday in hopes of getting a new fire station.

Along with lunch, the community also got to participate in a car show... and about 60 cars showed up. Everyone got a chance to vote for their favorite car and the winner took home a prize.

Assistant Chief, Ronnie Smith Senior says they rely heavily on the money raised from the fundraiser. He says it will also go towards many operations throughout the year.

"The money we get operates the fire department, pays for repairs, pays for gas, pays for the bills, whatever comes in. We all receive some kind of EMT or EMR training for Emergency medical responders and this helps us, and helps the community we serve."

Smith says this years fundraiser has been their most successful so far.
