LPS Foundation hosts Pillar Palooza

LAWTON, OK (KSWO)-Lawton Public Schools Foundation celebrated its "pillars" Monday evening and the impact they have on local students and teachers.

The LPS Foundation held the Pillar Palooza to honor their pillars, or the individuals, businesses, and L-P-S employees who support the foundation's mission financially with donations ranging from $250 to $1000.

With their help the Foundation provides needed classroom supplies and materials to teachers, above and beyond what they pay out of their own pockets.

Brad Cooksey, the president of the LPS Foundation, says, "Education is really starving for some help and this is a good way to help our Lawton Public Schools give back to them and have those teachers do some things that ordinarily they may not be able to do without the help of the foundation."

So far this year, the L-P-S Foundation has provided more than $88,000 in grants to 118 teachers
