No. 1 MacArthur's season ends with 39-36 loss to No. 3 Carl Albert

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla (KSWO) - MacArthur's dreams of a second 5A State Championship were dashed with a 39-36 loss to No. 3 Carl Albert in Friday's Semifinals.

In a clash of 5A heavyweights, both teams landed punches early. The top-ranked Highlanders took 8-0 and 15-7 leads in the 1st quarter. The Titans responded with ten straight points in the 2nd, including a 52-yard field goal from Conner Watts to take a 17-15 lead in to halftime.

MacArthur and Carl Albert would trade touchdowns to start the 2nd half. Teddy Thomas gave the Highlanders their last lead at 29-24 with a 2-yard touchdown run. But that lead would only last a few seconds as Diego Richards returned the ensuing kick-off 87 yards to put the Titans ahead for good 32-29.

Anthony Love and B.J. Davis scored two touchdowns a piece in the loss. The Highlanders finish 2016 with a 12-1 record.
