LAWTON, OK (KSWO) -Many people got out and took advantage of some early Christmas shopping discounts and helped support some local business.

Lawton Proud held their first Christmas Crawl today. The event provided discounts from more than 30 small businesses. Everyone went to Cherry Berry Brew House Coffee Shop on Sheridan to pick up an 'I shopped local' sticker and wear it the rest of the day as they shopped.

Kelly Edwards, CEO of the Lawton Marketing Group, says there are a lot of amazing local stores and restaurants people don't know about and she hopes this will help them discover some of those places.

"Hopefully, they get to discover some of those gems here, but then just spending your money locally," said Edwards. "It blesses the local businesses and it helps them to stay in business and to keep our community diverse and just have those opportunities."
