BEIJING (CNN) - Chinese leaders are trying to work out Donald Trump's policy on China after the president-elect spoke directly to the leader of Taiwan.
The conversation broke 40 years U.S. diplomatic policy.
Chinese authorities say they have been in touch with Trump and his team and trusts everyone is clear about China's position on Taiwan.
Trump took another swipe at China on Sunday tweeting, "did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency, heavily tax our products going into their country or to build a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea? I don't think so!"
China responded to Trump's comments saying it only comments on policies.
"We don't want to speculate on the motivations behind President-elect Donald Trump and his team's actions," foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said. "But we will make our stance clear when it comes policies related to China. China never comments on the styles or personalities of foreign politicians. We pay attention to and comment on their policies."
